North - We Had To Work Hard For That Win

First team coach Shaun North was wheeled out before the press following our hard fought victory over Hartlepool United yesterday.

Speaking to the Official Site following the one nil victory, North said the boys need to take a lot of credit from that win because we were certainly made to work hard for all three points but he felt it was thoroughly deserved given our performance over the course of 90 minutes.

'The result took a little while to come but we worked hard. We kept knocking on the door and their keeper made some good saves and defenders got some very good blocks in. You've always got a little niggle in the back of your mind, is it not going to be your day? It was a little bit like that last week at Tranmere but we had numerous chances, you always know that at some point the opposition will get a chance and that's worrying. Will we be able to deal with that?'

Thankfully for North and Cheltenham, we did just that and then got a richly deserved goal at the death through Koby Arthur having previously wasted a number of good opportunities.

It was of course Arthur's third goal in five substitute appearances, and North joked that we haven't done a lot of work on long throw ins but maybe we should start.

'Koby timed his run to perfection and scored with a great header. I don't think anybody has a poor game and I think everybody did their bit. Defensively we did very well and with the ball I think we could've moved it a bit quicker, but overall I think we're very pleased.'

North goes on to say that for the penalty shout maybe Harrison and Marquis collided with each other, but he knows some of the lads were saying that the keeper had caught one of them, and effectively knocked them into the other, but he wasn't going to make too much about that, preferring instead to focus on the positives and the number of chances we are creating in games - especially as we are testing the keeper so if we keep doing that goals should really start coming for us and we'll make games more comfortable in the future.

The aim now obviously is to try and remain unbeaten for as long as we can, because it means we are doing the right things in games and that's all that can be hoped for.
