Evesham's A Learning Curve For Youngsters

Evesham's A Learning Curve For Youngsters

Manager Mark Yates has said that how the game against Evesham played out should be a very good learning curve for the youngsters ahead of the new campaign.

A young team, including trialists and Jamie Cureton were spoken about by Yates following the game.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer talked about returning Cureton firstly.

'Jamie came down and trained with us last week and he was looking fit, strong and as good as ever. It might be an option but we gave him a game. We didn't have a problem with Jamie last season so if he's an option for us then we'll see where we go. Taking everything into consideration I think he would be good to have around for our forward players. He looked really sharp in a couple of days training but it didn't fall for him today.'

Yates on to discuss the game a bit more and explained that having led with a stronger side for the Wolves friendly, he thought he'd give the youngsters the opportunity in this game and it was a productive run out in his mind because in the first half especially, the youngsters showed where they were in their development in terms of them being involved with the first team and our league campaign for this coming season and having selected such a young side, he knew it would be a difficult afternoon, but it's ultimately an experience they have to have and they have to learn from and be better.

With a number of trialists with us as well, Yates admits he'll have everyone in on Monday and start to formulate some decisions, and he admits that after the game he was going to continue chasing up a defender he has been tracking because he's hopeful something can be done there, but it may still take a few weeks but he feels he'd be worth it.
