North Takes First Team Coaching Role

North Takes First Team Coaching Role

It's now official, Shaun North will begin life as our first team coach on July 1.

Paperwork is still to be completed but it's not expected there will be any issues from that, so North will join us from Wimbledon where he served as their U21 Development Programme manager.

He joins our new look backroom staff and will work alongside manager Mark Yates, player/coach Steve Elliot, Ian Weston and Steve Book.

When the paperwork is signed and completed he will put pen to paper on a 12 month deal.

North has told the press.

'I'm really looking forward to starting life with Cheltenham Town. This has given me the chance to work back at first team level and I have missed that over the last year. I am most definitely the kind of coach who will be first on the training pitch and last off it. Football is my life. It always has been and it always will be.'

North is no stranger to manager Mark Yates as they were both on the pro licence course he undertook some months ago.

'I've known Shaun for a while. He knows the league, senior football and he has been working at a development level with Wimbledon recently. We had some really good candidates for the position but Shaun is the one we went for and I know he will work tirelessly with me coaching on the training ground and watching games. I am really pleased to have him on board.'
