Tough Stanley Test Ahead For Cheltenham

Manager Mark Yates has said he's under no illusions at all when it comes to how tough a test Accrington will be this weekend.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of this weekends encounter, Yates said that training had been good this week, and it was nice to get back to a bit of normality following the 'bitty' Christmas period where we suffered a few postponements and the weather got in the way of pretty much everything we had played.

'It's annoying for everybody but after we had a rest I thought we played well last week. Unfortunately we didn't get the result we wanted or deserved but it's back to Saturday's game now and we do so in decent spirits and decent form.'

Yates says that nobody is getting carried away with our form of late despite a couple of unfortunately results, but we are mid table and we're not too far away from the bottom so we have to keep our eyes looking up the table, take confidence from the run we did found ourselves on - get back on a run like that - and keep picking points up as often we as we can.

'We'll try and do our business quietly to try and catch one or two teams up every week.'

Yates has added Michael Ihiekwe to our ranks on loan recently and the gaffer says he feels he's ready for first team football, but whether or not he'll start against Acrrington remains to be seen, but he brought him here with the intention of using him and he fully expects he will.

Of course the last time we played them we won one nil, but Yates knows how much they have improved since then and how they have adjusted and strengthened their team from both the reports we have had prepared on them, but also his own eyes watching DVD's of the games they have been involved with recently.

In terms of further strengthening ourselves, he says he has a couple of targets still but it remains wait and see, however he doesn't expect anybody in before the game this weekend and if we do have movement he expects it to be next week if we do anything at all.
