Yates - No More Talk, Get The Job Done

Yates - No More Talk, Get The Job Done

Mark Yates has said the time for talking is now well and truly over for Cheltenham, it's time for them to step up on the pitch and build on our recent performances to get that second all important victory of the league campaign.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of this weekend's game against Torquay United, Mark Yates said it was imperative that the team built on the performances they had put in against Portsmouth and Oxford in the league, but this time walked away with all three points.

Describing the last week of training as being good the manager said the lad's weren't too despondent over the results we had been picking up, but they were disappointed that we hadn't managed to grab the results they feel they deserved for their efforts in some of our games.

'Results are what count, but performances get you there. We have put in two decent performances now and we have had a good week at the training ground, so hopefully we can put in a good performance down there to get us three points.'

Yates says following the last two league games confidence is starting to return to the players, and they are starting to believe in themselves again and see the proof that they can play and grind out results, but now we need that stroke of luck to really lift spirits and get the season going properly for us.

Obviously clean sheets are vitally important to winning games as well and that's something the team as a whole has to work on given the number of goals we've conceded compared to our defensive form last campaign and although he says he feels Alan Knill, the Torquay manager, is still in his early days in terms of setting them up how he wants them, he knows they'll be a tough test and he knows we'll have to be at our best to ensure we come away with the result we all want.
