Build On Southend Win

Mark Yates was delighted with three points against Southend, but now he wants the players to really build on the result and performance.

Speaking to the Official Site following the win, Yates said we had to build on this and make sure we earned a positive result from the Aldershot game so we don't let ourselves down again.

'We didn't perform Saturday but we did perform heroically because we knew Southend would be tough. We didn't start the second half as well as we would have liked, but we weathered the pressure.'

Yates went on to say the players clearly knew Saturday's performance wouldn't be tolerated again, and he was pleased with the response they gave, picking out a number of players for special praise for their individual performances.

He also added that Marlon was nearly on his way out, but he's pleased he remains at the club because he feels he'll have a big part to play as the season draws to a close.
